Two Hong Kong activist group, April 5th Action Group and "Never Forget
June 4th" Group, staged a demonstration at Xinua to protest against the
harassment of Chinese dissidents by the Chinese police. The groups noted
that there have been 5 dissidents arrested without trial in this year.
It has been the practice of the Beijing government to detain dissidents
before the anniversary of the Tiananmen Massacre. The above activist
groups said that the dissidents' quest for freedom of speech is a legitimate
act. The June 4th Incident is a great democracy movement in modern
Chinese history. By using military force to suppress the movement, the
Beijing Government has committed a criminal act against the Chinese
people. Both groups condemn the harassment of Chinese dissidents and
ask for the immediate release of political prisoners in China.
